Mini Shred Madness for Young Skier or Snowboarders at Killington

Jan 12, 2018 03:02PM ● By Linda Ditch
Do you have a "grom" (a skier or snowboarder under 13) who is just dying to show off his or her skills? This Saturday, January 13, Mini Shred Madness takes place at the Easy Street Terrain Park at Killington Resort. This is a rail jam for all kids 13 and younger, and it’s meant to be all about having fun in a competition setting.

The groms will get a feel for park riding and experience the rules and navigation of the park. There will be Killington Park team riders cruising through the event offering help and motivation to participants. Plus, there will be all sorts of free giveaways handed out at the event to competitors.

Participants will be divided into two divisions: Super Grom for those ages 9 and under who are first-time park riders and Grom for experienced park riders ages 10 to 13. All riders must wear a properly fastened snow sports helmet during all event practice/inspection and competition.

Before the fun starts, it’s recommended that groms scope out the park and make a habit of course/venue inspection before every event. Also, help your grom know his or her limits (skill and ability levels) and stay within them. This isn’t the time for them to try something they’ve never done before.

Registration takes place from 9 to 10 am on the second floor of the Ramshead Lodge. (All participants of Mini Shred Madness must fill out an Express Assumption of Risk form and have a parent/guardian sign it.) The competition starts at 9:45 am, with awards handed out at 11:55 am.
