Fall Open Studios in Newbury, VT
Join us for a two-day celebration of the arts in Newbury during American Craft Week! Four different venues, over a dozen exhibiting artists, and lunch and dinner too. Yellow Vermont Crafts Council signs and black and white Vermont North By Hand signs will lead the way.
The Old Village Church on the Common will show works by James McGarrell, painter; Jane Booth, fine art photographer; Brad Vietje, wood turner; Mike Heffernan, painter; and John Layton, large format photographer. Bring your checkbook and purchase fine art at studio prices!
The Newbury Woman's Club will offer baked treats and a homemade lunch both days, all proceeds benefit restoration work on the historic Old Village Church. The Club will also be selling raffle tickets for a ceramic bowl created and donated by internationally recognized artist James McGarrell.
Around the corner on Main Street The First Congregational Church Vestry will host fine art photographers Linda Bryan and Chris Esten; painters Donna Ellery, Marie Witte, Chris Wilson; and pastel artist Linda Taylor. There will be ongoing art projects all day, both days -- community painting, clothesline art, camera obscura, cyanotypes, building a giant puppet and more!
Just north of the village on Route 5 visit with the painter Judith Lerner at her delightful home studio. Then, leaving the village, grab another cookie at The Old Village Church before you depart on a back country drive to the west side of town to Hidden Spring Studio filled with the vibrant paintings by artist Robert Chapla. Check your rear view mirror once in awhile as there are stunning views of the White Mountains as the road climbs up out of the village.
Last but not least, make a reservation for Saturday dinner, [email protected], and enjoy the famous West Newbury Turkey Supper and more art work by Robert Chapla and Linda Taylor!
